Oasis Wrap

My latest mission: to make something comfy, cozy, cuddly and cute.

I've had the pattern for this wrap for a few months, and have had the yarn for at least a month.  The problem is that I kept psyching myself out...for some reason, I got overwhelmed every time I looked at it.  Well, this weekend I decided to bite the bullet and go for it.

This wrap is made from Naturally Caron's "Country" yarn - it's a blend of acrylic and wool that's unbelievably soft to the touch...and shiny.  Can't go wrong with shiny!

Now if only I could find another model so I didn't feel like such a dork in every one of my postings...oh, well.  ;)

Bluebirds For Joy

Finally, I can post this!  I completed this project two months ago, and I've been hiding it ever since.  You see, my sister (in-law) is preggers again, and I've been going gaga for baby stuff ever since I found out.  Before she was even showing, this present was done, and I had every intention of saving it for her baby shower.

Well, Jello came over on Saturday while I was at school...and while I was in class I realized that it was still hanging in the front window.  Oops!  Naturally, she'd already seen it, so there was really no need to wait.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the "Bluebirds For Joy" mobile:

Forgive me for the repetitive pictures...it's just that this was my first-ever 3-d project, and I'm so stinkin' proud of it.  Every little piece - with the exception of the little ring at the top for hanging - has been constructed by hand, and I redesigned the flowers after a scuffle with the pattern.

And, now that J already has this, I can work on figuring out what I want to make for the shower.  :)

My Very Own Personal Super-Fat

So, I was sittin' here the other day, rockin' some vintage "Gilmore Girls," when it suddenly occurred to me: I've been crankin' out bags left and right.  And none of them are for me!  WTF?

A situation which so obviously needed to be rectified could simply not go ignored, so I decided to try a little variation on the Super-Fat for myself.  I used acrylic yarn and went a little crazy with the embellishment.

This bag, just like the typical cotton Super-Fat, measures approximately 16" wide by 9" tall and 9" deep. The handles are 9" rattan hoops, and the bird clip is interchangeable.

I totally understand that not everyone wants a huge bird on their bag, and that's cool...but for me, there really was no other option.  You see, if you couldn't already tell, I tend to stick out like a sore thumb.  On purpose.  :)

Super-Fat!

(Drumroll...)

Ladies and gentlemen, One Crafty Broad is proud to present...the Super-Fat!

That's my new name for the fat-bottom bag on steroids.  You like?  Here are a few photos for your viewing pleasure:

The Super-Fat measures approximately 16" wide by 9" tall and 9" deep. The handles are 9" rattan hoops, and the gerbera daisy clip is interchangeable.  :)

You can custom-order a one-of-a-kind Super-Fat on Etsy for $30.  Come on, you know you want to.

New!

What?!  You think I'm some kind of crochet machine?  I need time to create here, people!  Give a gal some breathing room, would'ja?

Stick around...I'll be back soon with further fabulosities.

Chloe's Easter Dress

Okay, Aunt Cheri...this one's for you.

Here's my little angelface in the Easter dress I made for her.  It fit perfectly, and everyone absolutely loved it.  I also made a matching scarf/wrap for myself.  And let's just pretend my face isn't as bright pink as my shirt.  It was warm in there, okay?

Thanks to Nana and Auntie J for sending me the pictures.  Next time, I will not forget the camera!

Fat Bottom Bag...On Steroids

So...

I was issued a challenge by one of my daughter's therapists last week: two of her family members fell in love with her Fat Bottom Bag, but they wanted it bigger.  I came home and thought about it, finally coming to the conclusion that the best way to accomplish this would be to use a large hook and two strands of yarn.

Well, whaddaya think? How'd it turn out?

The second photo shows the new, bigger bag next to the original to illustrate the size difference.  Not too bad for a first attempt at enlarging, if I do say so myself.

This purple beauty measures approximately 16" wide by 9" tall and 9" deep.  The handles (9" rattan hoops) and flower have been beefed up to match the scale of the larger bag as well.

Since this was a custom order, it will not be listed in my Etsy shop.  However, custom versions are available for $30.  Let me know your preferences, and I'll get crackin' on a special one-of-a-kind bag just for you.

Zazz Clutch

Okay, I think I'm addicted.  These clutches are so fun to make!

Lovingly crocheted by hand, the bag is constructed entirely of 100% cotton yarn.  I've added a sheer white ribbon for a little bit of zazz.

This clutch measures approximately 11" wide by 6" tall, and it's available to purchase on Etsy!  Custom orders available...just let me know your color and accent preferences.

Jello's Birthday Clutch

Hey, y'all!  I'm about to start posting a few things I've been hanging onto...now that they are happily in their new homes, I don't have to worry about the owners seeing them before the time is right.

Here's the clutch I made for my sister-in-law for her birthday:

Constructed of 100% cotton yarn, this bag measures about 11" wide by 6" tall.  Accents are satin ribbon and gerbera daisy floral clip.

I'm working on another clutch to list on Etsy, and I can do this in any color combo.  If you're interested in options, just let me know...we'll talk.  ;)

The People, They Love the Fat!

Sooo.....

When we went back to the farm for more speech therapy today, Miss Cyndi told me she had a problem.

I was all, Oh, CRAP.  Don't tell me something broke on her bag already.  She just got the thing yesterday.  Poop.  Farts.  Stinkbombs.

Turns out all my italic four-year-old expletives were for naught.

"My daughter and my sister saw my bag, and now they both have to have one of their own."

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Two more orders, and I get to play around with making the bags a bit bigger.  Wish me luck!  I'll be sure to post pics when these are done.

Miss Cyndi's Fat Bottom Bag

Twice a week, my daughter has speech therapy on a farm after riding a horse.  It helps her get centered so that she can concentrate on he task at hand.  Her speech therapist at the farm fell head over heels for my Fat Bottom Bag, and ordered one of her own.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Miss Cyndi's Fat Bottom Bag:

The entire bag has been lovingly constructed by hand using 100% cotton yarn, bamboo handles and a cute-as-a-button flower clip.  The finished product measures approximately 7" high (not including handles) by 11" wide by 6" deep.

I've had mine for a few weeks now, and I absolutely love it.  This item is not yet listed in my Etsy shop, but it is available as a special order.  If you're interested, give me a shout so we can talk about colors.

One Day

One day I will complete another project, I swear.  For now, I'm hoarding all the supplies and patterns I can get my grubby little fingers on.  The front corner of my living room has been taken over by crochet supplies - yarn, hooks, stuffing, eyes, embroidery floss, felt, flowers, and books are currently plotting to take over the entire room.  Not to mention the purse handles.  Hell, they could be an army in and of themselves.

One day I'll get it under control.  Really, I will.  But it's hard when you live in a small house with no extra room for anything, and both grown-ups in the household are big-time into different hobbies.  For now, we will live in chaos.  After all, it seems to suit us.

As if I wasn't doing a good enough job on my own of trying to infiltrate the living room with extra supplies, my birthday was this past week.  My folks - God love 'em - went nuts at the craft store, apparently picking up all that was left of their cotton yarn during a sale.

One day I'll find a place for it.  No, even better, one day I will make this beautiful yarn into a collection of interesting projects.

One day.

More to Come

Sorry, y'all...we're a little preoccupied over here with family stuff, but I'm still chipping away at a couple of projects.  I hope to have something new posted soon, right after we make it over the speed bumps in MommyLand.

Matching Bracelets

I've been getting a lot of guff lately from people about the princess's Easter dress.  They want me to post the whole thing, but I'm stickin' to my guns on this one.  Y'all can see the whole dress - complete with princess - after Easter.

But for now, I thought I'd letcha see a little more of our Easter ensembles.

I had a lot of fun making these bracelets, and they were really quick little projects.  Unfortunately, I couldn't find heart bangles that would fit me, but I think mine turned out pretty cool anyway.  ;)

Sneak Peek

Funny, a lot of people have been asking me about Chloe's Easter dress.  Once I mentioned that I made it myself, everyone seemed to want a peek.

Well, here ya go.

Sorry, but that'll have to do for now.  I don't want to give away any secrets, after all!  After Easter I'll be sure to post pics of the princess in her "gown".

Order!

One of Chloe's therapists has fallen head over heels for my Fat Bottom Bag.  She's requested one of her very own, which I'll be working on for next week's session.  I'll post pics when it's ready.  ;)

Promise

Oh, the things I'm planning to do!  I've been poring over magazines, books and loose patterns...spending hours online looking for the perfect projects...

The only problem with this is that when I'm searching for the perfect project it's kinda hard to actually work on very much.  I have a few things in store that I think you'll love, so hang in there...I'll be posting each project as it's completed, but it might be a couple of days before you hear from me again.  I promise you, though, it'll be worth the wait.

Spring Wreath

My first attempt at a wreath:

I think it turned out pretty well!  The design combines eleven butterflies, a cluster of three bluebells, and three daffodils to complete a very springy theme.  The only thing I'd do differently next time would be to wrap the wreath form in green yarn before attaching the decorations.  Other than that, though, I'm pretty happy with the result.
